Privacy Policy

Tally ("the App") is a personal balance tracker built by an independent developer. Your privacy matters, and this policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

When you use Tally without signing in, all your data (activities, projects, balances, timer data) is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server.

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

• Your Google display name, email address, and profile photo (provided by Google Sign-In)
• Your activity and balance data, which is synced to Google Firebase Firestore so you can access it across devices

When you sign in with Apple, we collect:

• Your name and email address, as provided by Sign in with Apple. If you choose "Hide My Email", Apple gives us only a private relay address (an @privaterelay.appleid.com address) — we never see your real email, and messages sent to it are forwarded by Apple
• An Apple-issued identifier for your account, used only to recognise you when you sign in again
• Your activity and balance data, which is synced to Google Firebase Firestore so you can access it across devices

We do not receive your Apple password, payment details, or any other information from your Apple Account.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the App's functionality — tracking balances, syncing across devices, and generating exports (PDF/Excel) on your device. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising or analytics.

3. Data Storage & Security

Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, which provides encryption in transit and at rest. Your data is associated with the account you signed in with (Google or Apple) and is only accessible when you are signed in. When you use the App without signing in, data is stored locally in your browser. If you later sign in, your local data is merged to the cloud to enable cross-device sync.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase Authentication — to handle sign-in
• Google Firebase Firestore — to store and sync your data
• Google Fonts — to load the Sora typeface
• Sign in with Apple — an optional way to sign in, provided by Apple

The Google services above are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Sign in with Apple is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

When you delete your account from inside the App, we also ask Apple to revoke the sign-in link between your Apple Account and Tally, so Tally no longer appears in your Apple Account settings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data with any third parties. Your balance and activity data is never shared unless you explicitly choose to export or share it yourself using the App's export features.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Use the App without signing in (fully local, no data leaves your device)
• Sign out at any time to stop cloud syncing
• Delete your account and all of your data from inside the App — go to Settings › Cloud Sync › Delete account and data. This permanently removes your account and everything stored in the cloud, on every device. It cannot be undone.
• Delete local data at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site
• Contact us if you need help with any of the above

7. Children's Privacy

Tally is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
